The Format

Tune Out.

This was my first favorite band. Their song, The First Single, was one I played on repeat constantly. I loved ever song on that album, Interventions and Lullabies; it was seriously all I listened to for 8th and 9th grade especially. I was in love; I remember driving to Borders the day that Dog Problems came out so I could buy it! It too was a success, but a completely new sound. Then, in 2008, the band sadly broke up. Sam Means went off and has down some solo work. Apple used his song Yeah, Yeah in an ad and it instantly became a hit from that. Nate Ruess went off and began another band called Fun. I followed fun. from the beginning. Sounding quite similar, but definitely more Nate-based on fun.'s album, Aim and Ignite. Definitely comparable to Dog Problems. However, with the most recent hit, We Are Young, it almost saddens me. Don't get me wrong; I love the song, but I hope this isn't a turn for Nate to sell out. Especially when his first band's name was to make fun of the fact that bands format songs to make those single hits. Basically, I still can listen to The Format any day. And fun. is one to keep watching. That is for sure.

After all, we're all we got
And tension speaks, but we're singing it
